American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union Technical Specialist negotiating committees met yesterday in Chicago to continue mediation with NMB Mediator Jack Kane.
The remaining open articles were discussed and both parties stated their positions. American reiterated its desire to reach agreements allowing the company to effectively manage costs, increase productivity and position American to compete now and in the future.
The next negotiating session is scheduled for the week of January 25, 2010 at a location to be determined.
The American Airlines and Transport Workers Union Technical Specialists negotiating committees met briefly in mediation this week in Kansas City with NMB Mediator Jack Kane.
During this time, the company provided the union with a new proposal relative to the “Relief Technical Specialist” position concept, which was also discussed during the last negotiations session.
The mediator will set the next mediation session at a later date.
American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union Technical Specialists negotiating committees met in Kansas City, Mo., for four days under the guidance of National Mediation Board mediator Jack Kane. The two parties exchanged proposals relative to the “Relief Technical Specialist” position concept, which would allow for greater scheduling flexibility and utilization of the Technical Specialists. American looks forward to continuing negotiations at the next sessions, scheduled for July 13-17 in Kansas City, MO.
The National Mediation Board announced it is realigning the mediators assigned to the TWU cases. Now, Mediator Jack Kane will oversee all of the M&E related agreements (Mechanic & Related, Technical Specialists and Stock Clerks). Mediator Terri Brown will continue overseeing the Fleet and Flight agreements (Dispatch, Fleet Service, Ground School Instructors and Simulator Technicians).

American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union Technical Specialist negotiating comittees met throughout the week in St. Louis, Mo., under the auspices of NMB Mediator Jack Kane.
The company and union discussed Article 3/Hours of Work, Article 5/Shift Differential, Article 6/ Overtime, Article 21/Rotation of Shifts and Article 26/Field Trip. In addition, American and the TWU went through the open Letters of Agreement and reached an agreement on the disposition of each.
American and the TWU will continue discussions during the next session, which will be scheduled within the next week.
The American Airlines and Transport Workers Union Technical Specialist negotiations committees met with NMB mediator Jack Kane on Monday, April 6 at the Air Transport Division (ATD) Office in Hurst, TX.
The TWU presented a comprehensive proposal with full-text language on all open articles to the company and the two parties discussed the open articles with Mediator Kane. Afterward, both parties stated their current table positions. The company reiterated American’s current table position is the comprehensive proposal presented in September 2008.
Mediator Kane set the next mediated sessions for April 13-17 in St. Louis.

American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union will be working with NMB mediator Jack Kane to determine dates for the Technical Specialist workgroup’s first mediated discussions.

The National Mediation Board has assigned John J. Kane as the mediator for both the Mechanic & Related and Technical Specialist negotiations between American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union. Mr. Kane has worked as a NMB mediator since March 1997. Since then, he has served as a mediator in airline and railroad cases.
The Company welcomes the NMB’s assistance to work toward reaching tentative agreements with the Mechanic & Related and Technical Specialist workgroups.

The Transport Workers Union today announced they have filed for mediation for the Mechanic & related and Technical Specialist workgroups. While American Airlines and the TWU have continued to make progress on these two agreements, the company agrees guidance by the National Mediation Board would be beneficial. The NMB has docketed the cases and assigned a Mediator to facilitate future discussions.
American remains committed to reaching agreements with the TWU that will address the needs of both parties and position the company and its employees for long-term success.

American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union met Monday, during which time the union presented a comprehensive contract proposal covering the articles that remain open.
The company is reviewing the proposal and will respond at the next negotiations session which is scheduled for February 23.
