I'm perplexed.
Don't get me wrong. A lot of readers, including employees, had good things to say about the company and many of the things going on around AA.
The Allied Pilots Association says it is against American's Joint Business Agreement with British Airways and Iberia Airlines, claiming it will lead to outsourcing of jobs. Yet CEO Gerard Arpey and the AA management team, by a wide margin, have kept more jobs at American Airlines than any other US carrier has at their airline. Maintenance is the best example. The AA/BA/IB JBA allows us to compete with the Star Alliance and Sky Team on a more level playing field with no integration of employees or operations. It will just attract more passengers away from our competitors, offer more destinations to our route network and earn more revenue.
That seems like it makes sense for everyone at our company - especially the pilots. Maybe it's time to focus more on the facts and trying to beat the competition.
